Configure and share

Tour of the Configure & Share screen—where you customize your document's appearance, access controls, and reader interaction.

The Configure & Share screen is where you land after uploading a document. It shows a live preview of your PDF and organized panels for sharing, customizing appearance, and controlling access. Most settings save automatically a moment after you change them; passwords, expiry, vanity slugs, and the Google Analytics ID have their own apply buttons.

Anonymous uploaders can access this screen to share their link and adjust the viewer mode, but most settings require an account. You can claim the document into your account from this screen using the "Claim & unlock readership" form in the sidebar. For more detail, see anonymous uploads and claiming.

Share

Access your shareable link, generate a QR code, and embed the document on external sites. The Share panel also lets you replace the file with a new version (Pro), set a custom domain link (Pro), and send tracked invites or emails to specific readers.

Style

Customize the appearance of the viewer: background color, gradient, or image; page shadow depth; border radius; and edge rendering. A Basic plan allows these visual adjustments; they don't affect how the document itself appears, only its frame in the viewer.

Branding

Add your logo to the viewer, position it, link it to your site, and hide the "Made with EveryPage" mark. A Basic plan is required for the panel. Pro adds a brand accent color, toolbar themes, badge positioning, and a call-to-action button. These settings let you mark the document as yours without altering the PDF content.

Behavior

Choose a viewer mode—Standard (one page at a time with previous/next and a page scrubber), Flipbook (page-turn animation), Magazine (two-page spreads), or Swipe (story-style cards advanced by swiping)—and customize its behavior. For Flipbook, set the default layout (auto, 1-up, 2-up), adjust page-turn speed, enable sound, and switch to right-to-left reading. For Swipe, enable auto-advance and set the interval. All tiers can set the viewer mode; customizing behavior requires a Basic plan or higher.

Hotspots

Draw clickable areas on your pages that open links, jump to another page, or play video, images, and audio. The whole panel is Pro. It shows how many hotspots you have placed and lets you edit them directly on the live preview; hotspot editing swaps the preview to a flat-page editor for precise drawing.

Feedback

Enable comments and annotations, letting readers leave feedback directly on the document (Pro only). You can set whether comments are public or restricted to you, and receive notifications when readers comment. This panel is only accessible to authenticated users.

Proofing

Turn your document into a review surface where readers can mark pages as pick/maybe/reject (page verdicts) and draw annotations on specific areas (Pro only). Feedback is collected in your Readership dashboard. This panel is only accessible to authenticated users.

Privacy & Access

Control who can see your document and what they can do with it. Set a password, require an email to view, restrict viewer domains, capture lead data via a custom form, expire the link after a set period, limit the number of views before the document self-destructs, and control whether downloading is permitted. Configure view notifications to email you when readers open the document. Free plans can set expiry (up to 7 days) and control downloads; Basic adds password protection, view limits, and view notifications; Pro adds email gates, domain restrictions, and custom lead-capture forms.

Protection

Add deterrents to prevent copying, printing, and screenshots. Block the right-click menu and text selection, hide the print button, blur pages when the reader's window loses focus (Pro), and apply a watermark with the reader's email or ID tiled across every page (Pro). These are browser-based controls, not encryption—a determined reader can still capture what they see. All deterrents require a Basic plan; watermarking and blur-on-leave are Pro features.

Key limitations

Settings are enforced server-side, so the UI showing a control does not guarantee your plan allows it. Controls for features above your tier are visible but disabled, with upgrade prompts directing you to the pricing page.

Already-expired or self-destructed (burned) documents refuse all settings writes and return an HTTP 410 error. Extend an expiry before it lapses — once a link has expired, the settings write cannot revive it. A burned link is un-burned by replacing its content (Pro), which resets the view counter and reopens settings.
