How the plugin works.

The plugin is free and connects to your EveryPage account with an API key - no OAuth dance, no per-site configuration. From then on, everything happens inside wp-admin: your PDFs get tracked links, your posts get an embedded viewer, and your dashboard gets the readership.

Install the plugin
Add the EveryPage plugin from your WordPress dashboard (Plugins -> Add New) and activate it. The plugin itself is free on every EveryPage plan - what the readership report shows and which link controls you get follow your plan, not the plugin.

Connect your account
Paste an API key from your account page (Account -> API keys -> create one named "WordPress") under EveryPage -> Settings. The plugin runs a connection test so you know it is linked, stores the key in your site's options table, and only ever sends it to everypage.co over HTTPS.

Insert the block - or share from the Media Library
Drop the EveryPage Document block into any post to embed a tracked PDF inline, or use the "Share via EveryPage" action on any Media Library PDF to get a tracked link, QR code, and embed snippet. Every document's settings live in a drawer right there in wp-admin - no round trip to everypage.co.

Under the hood

Analytics without a consent banner

Readership is measured first-party inside the EveryPage viewer: no cookies, no third-party tracking scripts, and no reader IP addresses stored - readers get a salted, pseudonymous identity instead. Page-level PDF analytics your cookie banner never has to mention.

Embedders display; EveryPage measures

A raw Media Library PDF is a dead end: plugins like PDF Embedder and EmbedPress render the pages, and GA4 can only count clicks on the link. The EveryPage viewer renders the same pages and reports read-through per page - how far each reader got, and how long they stayed.

Plan-aware, not cryptic

The per-file settings drawer shows everything your plan includes, and fields that need a higher plan are labelled with the plan that unlocks them - a Basic or Pro tag in the drawer, never a bare error after you hit save.

Light on your site

Your PDFs are stored encrypted on your EveryPage account, not in your media library or on your host, and nothing runs on your public pages except the viewers you place. Your API key is only ever sent to everypage.co, and you can revoke it from your account at any time.

What does the EveryPage WordPress plugin do?

It connects your WordPress site to your EveryPage account so every PDF you publish becomes trackable. You get a Gutenberg block that embeds a tracked PDF inline (with Flipbook, Swipe, and Magazine viewer modes), a "Share via EveryPage" action on Media Library PDFs, a shortcode, QR codes, per-file settings, and page-by-page readership analytics - all inside wp-admin.

Does PDF analytics on my site need a cookie consent banner?

EveryPage's readership analytics does not: it is measured first-party inside the viewer with no cookies and no third-party tracking scripts, and reader IP addresses are never stored - each reader gets a salted, pseudonymous identity instead. Whatever else your site runs still follows its own rules, but EveryPage adds nothing for a banner to disclose.

How is this different from PDF Embedder or EmbedPress?

Those plugins display a PDF; EveryPage displays it and measures it. An embedded media-library PDF tells you nothing about reading, and Google Analytics can only count clicks on the link. The EveryPage viewer reports read-through per page, reading time, and returning readers - and adds controls like passwords, email gates, and expiry rules that a plain embed cannot have.

Can I track PDFs that are already in my Media Library?

Yes. The "Share via EveryPage" row action (or bulk action) uploads the file to your EveryPage account and hands back a tracked link, QR code, and embed snippet. The replace-links tool then finds raw media-library PDF links across your posts and swaps them for the tracked versions - with a dry run that previews every change first.

Is the plugin free, and what do I need to use it?

The plugin is free. You need a WordPress site where you can install plugins and an EveryPage account with an API key - the free plan covers core readership on up to 3 PDFs, no card required. Basic adds passwords, view notifications, and deeper analytics; Pro adds the email gate, never-expiring links, and vanity slugs.

Do embedded or shared links expire?

Only if you tell them to - expiry is a per-document control, never a default. Give a document an expiry date, a view budget, or neither, from the settings drawer in wp-admin; on Pro, links can be set to never expire, so a PDF embedded in a post keeps working for as long as the post does.
