Track PDFs in WordPress

The EveryPage plugin turns the PDFs on your WordPress site into tracked documents: embed them in posts with the EveryPage Document block - flipbook, swipe, and magazine modes included - share them straight from the Media Library, and see who read them, all without leaving wp-admin. What you need

  • A WordPress site (6.0 or newer) where you can install plugins.
  • A free EveryPage account.
  • An EveryPage API key - create one under Account → API keys (it starts with ep_live_). Treat it like a password.

Install the plugin

  1. In wp-admin, go to Plugins → Add New and search for EveryPage.
  2. Click Install Now, then Activate.

Connect your account

  1. Go to EveryPage → Settings in the wp-admin sidebar.
  2. Paste your API key and save. The plugin runs a connection test so you know it's linked.

The key is stored in your site's options table and is only ever sent to everypage.co over HTTPS. You can revoke it anytime from your EveryPage account.

Embed a tracked PDF in a post

  1. In the editor, add the EveryPage Document block and pick a document - or upload one right from the block.
  2. Choose how it renders: the inline viewer in Standard, Flipbook, Swipe, or Magazine mode, or a tracked button or text link.
  3. Style the viewer in the block sidebar - the appearance options include picking up your theme's colours, so the embed looks native to your site.
  4. Using the classic editor or a page builder? The shortcode [everypage uuid="..."] places the same tracked viewer anywhere shortcodes go.

Share from the Media Library

  1. In the Media Library, use the Share via EveryPage row action on any PDF (or select several and use the bulk action). A modal hands back the tracked link, QR code, and embed snippet.
  2. Old posts linking straight to media-library PDFs? The replace links in content tool finds those raw links and swaps them for tracked ones - run the dry run first to preview every change.
  3. Each file has a settings drawer in wp-admin covering everything your plan includes: viewer customisation, expiry rules, the download toggle, and protection toggles - with passwords and view notifications on Basic, and the email gate, never-expiring links, and vanity slugs on Pro.

Read the readership

  1. Your files are listed with view counts and expiry; open the full per-file readership report - page-by-page read-through and reading time - with one click.
  2. The Recent reads dashboard widget shows the latest activity - file, reader country, pages read, and when.

What data is sent

When you upload a PDF, the file is sent to your EveryPage account to create the share link. When you view files or analytics, the plugin makes authenticated requests with your API key. Nothing is sent until you take one of those actions, and the plugin contacts no other service. See the privacy details for specifics.

Is the EveryPage WordPress plugin free?

The plugin is free to install. Readership depth, password protection, and expiry follow your EveryPage plan, and the free plan covers core readership on up to 3 PDFs.

Where are my PDFs stored - in WordPress or on EveryPage?

On your EveryPage account, encrypted at rest - not in your WordPress media library or on your host. The plugin uploads the file to EveryPage over HTTPS and stores only the resulting share link.

Does the plugin slow down my site?

No. It only calls EveryPage from wp-admin when you upload or view a file; nothing runs on your public front-end except the optional [everypage] shortcode where you place it.

Can I track a PDF that is already in my media library?

Yes. Use the "Share via EveryPage" row action (or bulk action) on the file: the plugin uploads it to your EveryPage account and hands back a tracked link, QR code, and embed snippet. The replace-links tool can then swap raw media-library links across your posts for the tracked versions, with a dry run first.
