Free PDF hosting: 8 ways to host a PDF online
By Nick Pears ·
To host a PDF online for free, upload it to a service that gives you a link: a PDF host such as EveryPage, Linkjar or Jumpshare, cloud storage such as Google Drive, or your own website. The free limits that matter are the file size, whether the link expires, and whether you can see that anyone opened it.
We make EveryPage, so every other row below cites that service's own pricing or help page, checked in October 2026, and we say where others do better. If you just want a link now, turn your PDF into a link with one upload and no account; that link lasts 7 days unless you make a free account.

The small print
- EveryPage: A link made without an account lasts 7 days. A free account keeps up to 3 PDFs whose links never expire unless you set a date, counts views and readers, gives each PDF a QR code, and shows a small "Made with EveryPage" badge. Pricing
- Linkjar: Your first upload needs no sign-up. The free plan keeps 3 documents with a Linkjar badge, and Linkjar says free links do not expire unless you set a date. Pricing
- Google Drive: The 15 GB is shared with Gmail and Google Photos. Google One Help A personal Google account cannot see who opened a shared file. Google Docs Help
- Dropbox Basic: Lists signed-out visitors as "Guest" and shows a head-count only once more than 4 people have opened a link; viewer history needs Standard or above. Dropbox Help Passwords, expiry dates and download blocking need Standard, Professional or Essentials, not Basic or Plus. Dropbox Help
- Jumpshare Basic: 25 uploads in total, and the viewer is ad-free only on paid plans. A no-login upload widget also exists, but Jumpshare does not say how long it keeps those files. Pricing Its terms allow closing free accounts inactive for 6 months. Terms
- WordPress.com Free: Site stats cover the last 7 days. Free sites show WordPress.com ads and use a .wordpress.com address. Pricing
- Wix free site: A free site has 500 MB of storage, shows Wix ads and uses a wixsite.com address. Wix Help PDFs over 50 MB download instead of opening in the browser. Wix Help
- tiiny.host: One link, with a Tiiny Host banner. Files are kept as long as you log in at least once every 3 months. tiiny.host
Two more rank for this search. static.app is a 7-day trial, not a free plan (pricing). EdgeOne Makers (formerly EdgeOne Pages) links last 1 hour without an account and are permanent with one, for PDFs up to 25 MB, during what EdgeOne calls a time-limited free phase.
Which one to use
- A link right now, no account: Linkjar's first upload, up to 10 MB. Linkjar says its free links do not expire unless you set a date.
- A link that never expires, with view counts and a QR code: a free EveryPage account, up to 20 MB per PDF. It also opens the PDF as a flipbook or page-turning reader if you choose.
- You already use Google Drive and only need people to see it: a Drive link works. A personal account cannot see who opened it, and your name and email show as the owner.
- A big file: Jumpshare's free plan takes uploads up to 250 MB. EveryPage Basic takes 200 MB.
- You have a website: put it there. See below.
How to host a PDF on Google Drive
- Upload the PDF to Google Drive.
- Select it and click Share.
- Under General access, choose "Anyone with the link", keep the role as Viewer, and click Copy link.
Anyone with the link can open it without signing in. Google notes that your name and email are visible as the file's owner (Google Drive Help).
How to put a PDF on your own website
- Link to the file. Upload it to your site's media library (WordPress and Wix both have one) and link to it. Browsers open PDFs in their built-in viewer.
- Embed it in the page with an iframe or object HTML element, which MDN recommends for PDF previews (MDN). Embedded PDFs often do not display on phones, as WordPress.com's own help notes (WordPress.com), so keep a plain link as well.
- On Wix, upload the PDF to the Media Manager and link a button or text to the document. It opens in a new tab; files over 50 MB download instead (Wix Help Center).
- Use a hosted viewer's embed code. EveryPage gives every PDF an embed code that works on phones; with a free account you can see how often it is viewed. See embedding a PDF with view tracking.
Check this before you print the link
- When does the link stop working? No-account links are often short-lived: EdgeOne's last 1 hour and EveryPage's 7 days. Make an account if the link is going on paper.
- Does the free account get closed? Jumpshare's terms allow closing free accounts inactive for 6 months; tiiny.host keeps free files while you log in at least once every 3 months.
- Do the service's own pages agree? Smallpdf's share page says links last "as long as you need", while its blog says 14 days. When a service contradicts itself, plan for the shorter one.
- What will readers see? Several free plans add a banner, a badge or ads: tiiny.host, Linkjar, WordPress.com and Wix all do, and EveryPage's free plan shows a small "Made with EveryPage" badge.
Questions
What is the best free platform for hosting PDF files?
It depends on what you need from the link. For a quick link with no account, Linkjar's first upload takes PDFs up to 10 MB, and Linkjar says free links do not expire. For a free link that never expires, with view counts and a QR code, a free EveryPage account takes PDFs up to 20 MB. If you already use Google Drive and do not need to know who opened it, a Drive link works.
Where can I share a PDF online for free?
Free options include EveryPage, Linkjar, Jumpshare, Google Drive and Dropbox: upload the PDF, copy the link, and paste it wherever you need it. EveryPage, Linkjar and Jumpshare open the PDF in a browser viewer; Google Drive and Dropbox open their own file preview pages.
How do I host a PDF on Google Drive?
Upload it, click Share, set General access to "Anyone with the link" with the Viewer role, and copy the link. Anyone with the link can open it without signing in, and your name and email show as the owner.
Can I host a PDF on Wix?
Yes. Upload it to the Media Manager and link a button or text to the document, and it opens in a new tab. Files over 50 MB download instead of opening, and a free Wix site has 500 MB of storage and shows Wix ads.
How can I display a PDF on my website?
Link to the file and let the browser's PDF viewer open it, or embed it in the page with an iframe or object element. Embedded PDFs often do not display on phones, so keep a plain link too, or use a hosted viewer's embed code that works on mobile.
