Tracked links inside Google Workspace

The EveryPage add-on for Google Workspace turns the deck, document or PDF you have open or selected into a secure, trackable link without leaving Google - from Slides, Docs and Drive - drops your links into Gmail drafts, and imports your readership into a Google Sheet. Send the link and see who read it, how far they got, and for how long.

What you need

  • A Google account. The add-on works in Gmail, Drive, Sheets, Slides and Docs.
  • A free EveryPage account (connected once, no API key to copy).

Install the add-on

  1. Get EveryPage from the Google Workspace Marketplace and install it.
  2. Open any presentation in Google Slides (or a document in Docs). EveryPage appears in the side panel on the right.

Connect and share

  1. Click the EveryPage icon in the side panel and click Connect EveryPage. Sign-in is OAuth - there's no key to paste.
  2. Click Create tracked link and allow access to this one file when Google asks.
  3. Choose your options - viewer mode, expiry, downloads, password, copy protection, watermark, email gate - exactly what your plan includes, then create. You get the link, a QR code and an embed snippet.
  4. Open your readership report in EveryPage to see who read it, page by page.

Update a link you've already sent

Edited the deck after sharing it? Reopen the panel: it leads with the link you already created and a one-line readership summary. Update this link replaces the document behind the same URL, so the link in your recipient's inbox, the QR code on your handout and the readership history all survive. Link settings edits password, expiry and the rest in place.

Gmail: send a link, not an attachment

Compose a message, then open EveryPage from the compose toolbar and pick one of your links. It lands at the cursor as a named link - a 20 KB email instead of a 20 MB attachment, with a readership report behind it. The add-on cannot read your email: it writes into the draft and nothing else.

Drive: any PDF, one click

Select a PDF in Google Drive - a scanned contract, an exported deck, a file a client sent - and open EveryPage in the side panel. Create tracked link, allow access to that one file, and it's live. Google Docs and Slides selected in Drive work the same way.

Sheets: your readers in a spreadsheet

Open a spreadsheet, grant EveryPage access to it, choose a file (or all of them) and which events to bring in, and click Import read events. Each import adds the new reads - who, when, which pages, how long - to an "EveryPage Reads" tab you can pivot, filter and join to your CRM export. Readers are pseudonymous and no IP addresses are ever stored.

What data is sent

When you create a link, the add-on sends that one file - as a PDF - to your EveryPage account over HTTPS. Sign-in uses OAuth 2.0, so EveryPage never sees your Google password. Access is granted one file at a time, the add-on requests no broad Drive access, and it cannot read your email. Read events imported into a spreadsheet are your own readership data, written only into the sheet you chose. See the add-on privacy policy.

Questions

Which Google apps does it work in?

Slides and Docs (create a link from the open file), Drive (create a link from any selected PDF or Google file), Gmail (insert a link into the draft you are composing), and Sheets (import your readership events into a spreadsheet).

Can the add-on read my email?

No. In Gmail it can only insert a link into the draft you are composing. It does not read the draft, its recipients, or any message, and requests no mailbox scope.

Can I update a link after I have sent it?

Yes. Reopen the panel on the same file and click Update this link. The document behind the URL is replaced; the URL, QR code, settings and readership history stay.

Does EveryPage access my whole Google Drive?

No. The add-on works on the document you have open and choose to share; it does not browse or read the rest of your Drive.

Is the add-on free?

Yes, the add-on is free. Readership depth follows your EveryPage plan, and the free plan covers core readership.

What about PowerPoint or Office files?

This add-on is for Google Workspace. For other files you can upload directly at everypage.co or use the browser extension; broader Office support is on the roadmap.
