## How to create a link to a PDF

1. Upload the PDF. Drop it in the box above. No account and no email code needed. Word and PowerPoint files are turned into a PDF as they upload.
2. Copy the link. The next screen shows your link, a QR code and an embed code. Paste the link into an email, a chat, a social bio or a web page.
3. Choose how it opens. Pick flipbook, magazine, swipe or standard pages. Readers tap the link and the PDF opens in their browser, with nothing to install.
4. Keep it. A link made without an account lasts 7 days. Sign up from the same screen and the PDF moves into your account, where its link never expires unless you set a date.

## What you get

- A short link. Something like everypage.co/BFUoi8VSHSal that opens the PDF in a reading view, not a file-download page. Try that one: it opens a sample PDF.
- A QR code of the same link. Download it as a PNG for flyers, menus and slides. See PDF to QR code.
- Downloads and expiry, your call. Turn downloading on or off and set an expiry date on every plan, and change either later without changing the link. Password protection comes with Basic.
- A count of how many opened it. A free account counts views and readers. Basic adds how long each page was read and where people stopped: that is PDF tracking. Reader IP addresses are never stored.
- Change the PDF later, on Pro. Replace the file behind the link and everyone who has it sees the new version, with the same link and the same QR code. See dynamic links.

## Can I turn a PDF into a URL with Google Drive?

Yes. Upload the PDF to Google Drive, open Share, set General access to "Anyone with the link" and copy the link. Dropbox and OneDrive work the same way. If you only need to hand someone a file once, that is enough.

The differences show up after you send it. This is what each one lets you do with a shared PDF link, as of October 2026:

| Feature | Drive | Dropbox | EveryPage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Make a link without an account | No | No | Yes 1 |
| Password on the link | No | Paid 2 | Basic |
| Expiry date on the link | No 3 | Paid 2 | Free |
| Turn off downloads | Yes | Paid 2 | Free |
| See how many opened it | No 4 | Partly 5 | Free |
| Page-by-page reading | No | No 5 | Basic |

In the EveryPage column, Free and Basic name the plan that includes it. Free is $0, Basic is $9 a month.

1. An EveryPage link made without an account lasts 7 days. On a free account, links never expire unless you set a date.
2. Dropbox Professional, Essentials, Standard and above. Not on Basic (free) or Plus. Source: Dropbox Help Center.
3. Google Drive can give named people expiring access on eligible work and school accounts, but an "Anyone with the link" link has no expiry date. Source: Google Drive Help.
4. Google shows view history only when a work or school account owns the file. A personal Google account cannot see who opened a shared PDF. Source: Google Docs Help.
5. Dropbox shows a viewer count only once more than 4 people have opened a link, lists signed-out visitors as "Guest", and keeps viewer history only on Standard and above. Page-level reading analytics are in DocSend, a separate Dropbox product. Source: Dropbox Help Center.

## Is it free?

Yes. You can make a link without an account: it works straight away and lasts 7 days. A free account keeps up to 3 PDFs (20 MB each), their links never expire unless you set a date, and it counts views and readers. Basic ($9 a month) adds password protection, page-by-page reading, files up to 200 MB and up to 100 PDFs.

## Should I send a link or an attachment?

Send a link when the file is too big to attach (Gmail, for example, stops at 25 MB), when you may update it, or when you want to know it was opened. The reader gets one tap to open it instead of a download.

Send an attachment when the reader needs their own offline copy, or when a policy requires the file itself. You can also do both: attach the PDF and put the link in the message.

## PDF link questions.

### How do I turn a PDF into a link?

Upload the PDF to a service that hosts it and gives you a web address. On EveryPage, drop the PDF in the box at the top of this page and the next screen shows your link and QR code, with no account needed. Google Drive and Dropbox also work: upload, share with anyone who has the link, and copy it.

### Can I create a link for a PDF for free?

Yes. EveryPage makes a link for free without an account, and that link lasts 7 days. With a free account you can keep up to 3 PDFs whose links never expire unless you set a date, and see how many people opened them.

### Do people need an account to open the link?

No. The link opens the PDF in their browser on any phone or computer, with nothing to install and no sign-in. The only exceptions are the ones you add: a password (Basic) or an email gate (Pro).

### Does the link expire?

On a free account, only if you set a date. A link made without an account lasts 7 days. On a free account you can add, change or remove an expiry date at any time.

### Can I change the PDF without changing the link?

Yes, on Pro. Replace the file behind the link and everyone who has the link, or has scanned its QR code, sees the new version. On every plan you can turn downloads off or set an expiry without changing the link.

### What is a PDF URL?

A PDF URL is a web address that opens a PDF in a browser: either a direct .pdf file, such as example.com/menu.pdf, or a share link such as everypage.co/BFUoi8VSHSal. With an EveryPage link you decide whether people can download the file and when the link stops working, and a free account counts how many opened it.

### Can I see who opened my PDF link?

On a free account you see how many people opened it and how many times. Basic shows how long each page was read and where readers stopped. Pro names readers who entered their email at an email gate. Reader IP addresses are never stored.
